Aims and
Objectives:
We speak
up for mental health service users in East
Lothian |
ELIG
meets on the third Wednesday of each month,
|
ELIG was formed in 1992, with the assistance of funding from CAPS (Consultation & Advocacy Promotion Service).ELIG has always worked to represent the interests of users of mental health services, both by bringing in guest speakers from relevant organisations (East Lothian Mental Health Forum, Disability Scotland and others) and bymembers involving themselves in consultation processes - for example, ELIG members were involved in curriculum planning for Mental Health Nurse students at Napier University, Edinburgh. |
Mental ill health can can often feel like a barrier to wider socialising. ELIG arranges a variety of social events for its members. |
In the past, such events have included: lunches, barbeques, Open Days, day trips, karaoke, Christmas parties, discos, sports days...and we're always open to new ideas. Follow the 'NEWS' link below to see what's planned... |
Our plans for the future
include: * Getting more people involved - ELIG aims to be truly representative * Continuing to involve ourselves in consultation with appropriate bodies * Broadening the range of our contacts with professionals and voluntary organisations in the mental health field |
ELIG is always keen to welcome new members. We are currently looking for help and support to take on practical tasks, e.g. fundraising, and with the general running of the group. If you would be interested in helping out, contact the Convenor, Ross Macphail:
